In the municipality of Barceloneta in Puerto Rico, the evangelist church “Casa de adoración y Restauración” (House of Worship and Restoration) was founded in 1967 as a meeting place for parishioners. Since the church has grown in number of followers in the recent years, in 1985 acquired a new larger establishment to satisfy their space needs.
Throughout these years, his followers and the pastor of his church, Christian Miranda, have been working on various reforms in the building, of which we would like to highlight this scenario made with pallets.
With the time it was obvious the need for a suitable setting not for only give mass, but also to work on the different activities of the parish, such as theater, musical performances, meetings, conferences and other events that require a large, attractive space, well equipped technically and with a raised floor.
Due to the lack of available funds, they decided to make a scenario using free materials, and so they conclude to use the wooden pallets, it was easy to get them for free and also extremely versatile to create with them the space they needed.
Finally the surrounding businesses donated 22 pallets to the members of this community, to help and to proceed with the building of this low cost scenario.
As you can see in the picture, the result is very good, the pallets have been used to coat the wall, and also they used these holes to design a lighting system fully adapted and very different from the conventional ones. They’ve only needed 6 spotlights Model PAR 56, 26 LED lights of different colors and the typical Christmas lights, which have been distributed throughout the stage. The gaps of the pallets create the shadows and are a a good place where to hide some lights, playing with the effects and the colors a unique lighting is obtained.
It is good news that the wooden pallets can be used not only to create furniture, thanks to initiatives like this, communities can get socially and culturally rich without any investment.
Do you like this pallet furniture? Do you want to look for more pallet coatings?
