The wood from the pallets gives to our homes a a very cozy style, offering many alternatives to build furniture and decorate different rooms like the dining room, the lounge, the bedroom etc. It also permits us to create nice covers for a wall or the floor of the house transforming the space into a warm and rustic room.
We are going to teach you the construction process for coating a wall of a living room. The result is excellent and of a high quality, and does not require many DIY skills, but to follow a pattern of orderly and meticulous work.
First, to cover the living room wall, you will need several pallets depending on the size of it. In this post you will find all the information you need to find the pallets.
Once you have them, you will have to prepare the following materials and tools: a nail gun or a hammer, nails, wood polyurethane adhesive and a sander.
First, extract the planks form the pallets, and cut them with the same length. Note that the planks that are going to be placed around the windows will have a smaller dimensions, so you’ll have to cut them while the process of coating the wall. Also we are going to sand all the planks in order to give them a nice finish, and then apply a layer of varnish to them with different tonalities, playing with the different colors.
Once we have aged the wood, apply the polyurethane adhesive on the back of each plank to fix them on the wall, as we show you in the picture.
Now we can put the planks on the wall as if it were a collage. It is important that all the planks have the same width, if is not that way it would be difficult to fit them, also, before fixing them to the wall, you can paint the wall of a dark color, so then the small spaces between the boards couldn’t not be noticed.
As long as we are coating the wall, with the help of a nail gun, we are going to secure the planks over it. It’s time now to fill those small spaces between the coat and the windows, just measure these little gaps and cut some small strips to fit into these spaces, then simply place them.
Once the pallet covering has been finished, you can place the furniture and enjoy your new and warm living room 🙂
