Do you remember this moon rocking cradle? We talked about it some time ago at this post, well, one of our supporters took courage and decided to build its own one, that’s the philosophy! David has also sent us photos of the construction process step by step, I explain you how to build this art work.
First David captured the image of this crib to calculate the measures of the moon and drawn them in a table.
Here you can see that he has drawn a moon in a table bought at a carpenter store.
The next step is to cut them, it’s important to cut exactly both moons.
Then dismantle a pallet to obtain the planks and cut them to fix them over the wooden table, cover both wooden moons, use wooden glue or nails to fix them.
The next step is to link the two moons with at least 3 structural wooden strips, 2 of them have to be at the same height as is where the mattress is going to rest. Use a leveler to balance the structure, then we are going to start to covering the inner upper part of the moons with more wooden planks.
Post more pallet planks between the two structural supports to build the support for the mattress.
We have almost finished our moon crib, we just have to cover with more planks the union between the two moons. This time use only nails to fix the wooden planks.
And this is the crib of David almost finished, it’s really identical to the original picture, bravo David! Only misses the mattress, which can be made with a foam cut to size. Remember that this is a bed for a baby, so it is very important to disinfect well all the woods, and also sand and varnish everything with several layers.
