In the district of Johannesburg, Maboneng, we have found a residential project of benches-planters, made of pallets and designed by local artists. The purpose of this furniture is to encourage the public spaces, and also provide new alternatives that positively contribute to the South African community.
These benches have also been carried out in collaboration with a local manufacturer, the project has been named by their participants as “Brothers in benches” building so six models of benches made from recycled pallets.
These units have a practical folding system that allows them to be easily organized, besides this system also allows us to create different shapes with them, from making benches-planters to fence-planters. And thanks to the wheels on their base, it’s easy to move them, allowing not having to leave them fixed in a particular place.
The result of these pallet furnitures is a statement of interactive urban art, where the authors invite citizens to participate in the work, making them feel part of the community to which they belong.
We invite you to watch this video of “Brothers in benches”!
