Do you remember this hammock made with pallets that we saw some time ago in this post? Well today I will explain how to build it thanks to this complete step by step guide. First you’ll need one or two wooden pallets and a coil of rope.
The hammock is composed mainly of wooden planks, so the first step is to remove them from the pallet.
Then mark with a pencil the points that we are going to perforate, we will draw 2 parallel lines of equidistant points. You should leave a sufficient margin between the points and the edge of the planks so they will not break.
Drill each of the points of the planks and then sand the wood.
Now it’s time for sewing the wooden planks, one by one we are going to sew them using the rope as it’s shown in the pictures. Use all the planks that you need to reach the total length of the hammock. Remember that with this same system you can create many other pallet furniture!
Finally at all the corners we are going to perforate more holes, then we are going to pass the string in order to suspend the hammock using it. Be sure that all the holes have the sufficient margin to withstand a wood weight of at least 100 kg (220 lbs), 25 kg per point (55 lbs). You can test each point with a weight.
Finally we will set the strings to a higher structure where we are going to suspend the hammock, in these photos you can see some examples of how to do it.
Hope you have enjoyed this curious project!
