In the monastery of Sant Cugat del Vallés recently took place the event “Petits grans llibres!” A festival that brings the world of contemporary childhood to adults and children, with the help of literature, music, art and culture in general. The books go out from the shelves and search for the public, offering them the opportunity to think and dialogue. This is a unique event for its creativity, innovation and quality of content.

The space of the monastery cloister of Sant Cugat del Vallés had to be adapted for the occasion and make it useful and suitable for the temporary use as a library, as cited by the Architect Claudia Arruga: “We had to choose noble materials which blended with the natural look of stone: wood, metal, fabric. We had a small budget, so recycling came as the best option. Our aim was to give a second, third (even fourth!) life to pallets, wine and cava boxes, copper tubes and fair carpets”

Here’s how the pallets were used as protagonists of this cultural initiative, building seating, tables and bookcases as if they were a game of “Lego” without complicated woodwork, all thanks to simple geometric shapes of them, their strength structural and noble wood construction.
