There are many ways to decorate the walls of your home with posters, boxes, pictures… If you like surfing, today we offer a great alternative, make a decorative surf board with pallets. As you see in the picture above, in this case the surfer decor is present in the all the bedroom.
The materials and tools that you require for its construction are: a brush, painting wood, wrapping paper to make the templates for the surfboard, glue for decoupage, for example the brand Mod Podge, a pallet and a jigsaw.
First, clean it and take the wooden planks that your going to use.
Now it’s time to join them to build the surfboard. Then draw the outline of a surfboard on a wrapping paper, it should be large enough to trace it later at the wooden base.
Once we have cut the silhouette paper, we are going to use it as a template to draw the surfboard on the pallet planks. Remember that it must be perfectly symmetrical.
The next step that you have to do is to cut the planks with the help of a jigsaw, following the drawn lines on the wooden pallet. We are going to do this process separately on the 3 wooden planks.
It’s very important to sand the joints in order to fit the wooden planks perfectly.
Now we have to assemble and align the three boards. Stick them using wooden glue, also use 3 more boards and nail them crossed as you can see in the picture, everything would be much better set.
Once we have completed our construction process now starts the most artistic part. Paint some colorful stripes, mimicking a surfboard, help yourself using an adhesive tape.
And finally, to make the surfing pictures we’ve cut the shape of a flower from an old shirt. You can also use the technique of decoupage with some paper or fabric printed with your designs. Ours is a home recyclable imitation made of fabric and using Mod Podge.
All we need now is to fix it to the wall! and go!! Cool right!? Remember that you can give to it any design!
