While the city of Paris sleeps, a group of designers tries to find in the trash interesting materials or abandoned furniture, everything to create this guerrilla furniture and decorate and equip the city streets in the night. Initially the designers of ” Chapitre Zero” performed these recycled furniture in a workshop, but soon they discovered that it was so much easier and had more sense to make this furniture in the streets…
The process is simple, first they search in the trash for materials or furniture that can be of use, such as pallets, doors, chairs and broken tables, cables etc… anything that the Parisians have discarded is useful. Later they look for a place in the city to decorate and they create the furniture right there. They have flashlights, battery-powered tools , and many screws and nails …
The idea of ” Chapitre Zero” is great, first they exploit all those things that Parisians do’nt want and also they return them into useful items for the citizens. All creations are handmade and are really artistic and interesting.
Around the Seine many nights appear new urban equipments like they were mushrooms, always close to crowded areas such as plazas and subway stations. Currently is a mistery why the council hasn’t cleaned the streets of all this furniture because it’s a totally illegal activity, nevertheless we applaud this decision.
