Alesund is a town in Norway where every year they celebrate the “Midsummer ” , or as it’s also called the summer solstice on the St. John’s day. This is a very marked date in Scandinavian culture, as it’s in the Christian tradition, so in Norway they celebrate this day with bonfires, especially in Alesund where every year they make a very big one. A recent celebration push them to make a tower of 131 feet ( 40 meters) , one of the largest bonfires that were ever made in the history of mankind, and where thousands of recycled wooden pallets have been used for the occasion .
To create all the people of all the ages work together until they have built it, there’s even a volunteer who lights the fire from the top of the tower to make sure it is properly ignited.
It is a tradition also to come in boats to Alesund and see how the tower gets burned from the water.
Certainly from our blog we can find more useful ways to use our wooden pallets, than burnig them, in any case I had to share this peculiar construction with you! Who knows maybe soon you are going to celebrate St. Johns day and you need some special and innovative way…
Do you like this pallet tower? Do you want to look for other pallet furniture?
