If you don’t have a mailbox in your garden you are in luck! with a wooden pallet we can build one with the shape of a house without any hassle, you only have to follow this guide:
The materials and tools that you are going to need are: white paint, exterior varnish, screws, a hinge, an Electric drill and various drill bits, a jig saw, a sander, a leveler, C-Clamps, a shovel, a pallet.
First, unmount the planks of the pallet and cut them with these dimensions: (2) pieces of wood 22 “(56 cm) long to the build the floor of the mailbox, (4) pieces of wood 15 “(38 cm) long for the front wall and the rear wall, (6) pieces of wood 22 “(56 cm) long for the side walls, (4) pieces of wood 26 “(66 cm) long for the roof of the mailbox, (2) pieces of wood 32 “(81 cm) long for the horizontal supports under the mailbox.
First we will cut the wood with the needed measures.
To make the mail box, we first must create the walls and the floor of it, we’ll have to glue the wooden planks that have previously been cut. We’ll create the walls and the floor as you see in the pictures, gluing the planks between them, we can help us using some C-Clamps until the glue gets dry.
Once the glue is dry, cut a small door in the front wall.
We must also pass the sander to polish the wooden planks surfaces, and apply a layer of varnish.
Now, we’ll set the planks on the sides with the electric screwdriver, closing the box on both sides.
Finally, paint the roof planks, we have chosen to do it in white. Once the tables have been dried, we can fix them with the screwdriver. Now we have almost finished our mailbox. Now add the little door using the hinge, and the lower planks that will work as a support.
Finished our mailbox, we have to find a place to stick it in the ground. In our case we have dig out a hole near our garden gate. It has a depth of 60 cm (24″). To level the mailbox we have used the leveler. The post also has been made with the pallet planks, in particular the beams.
And presto! Now you can receive your mail!
