If you have the desire to improve the view from your terrace or balcony, in case that you don’t have a garden, we have a project to share with you simple and practical. This does not require advanced skills in carpentry and is very suitable for beginners who want to start into the world of building with pallets.
These are two very simple planters made from just one pallet, with hooks that can be hanged on a fencing.
First cut the two ends of the pallet with the help of a handsaw. From the two pieces that we have obtained, we are going to extract a plank to get the same result that we show you in the picture.
Then we are going to get two more planks from the original pallet, these are going to work as the base of the planters, so later you can fill them with potting soil.
However, before proceeding to join these two pieces (the ends that we have cut and the pallet boards) apply a layer of sealing spray to seal and protect the wood from the damage and the moisture, and the mold or cracks that may appear in the wood over the time. Wait one to get the future planters completely dry.
Once the spray is dry, we will set the plank with the help of some screws or nails, closing the gap that the end of the original pallet had. And so we have completed the basis of our future planter.
With the help of some sandpaper, you can polish the edges of the wood to get a better end.
Due that in this case it was very difficult to find some hooks that fit in the width of our fence, we have chosen to adapt a metal bracket with an “L” shape, transforming it to a “U”, using a c-clamp. In the pictures you will see what I mean.
One option is to plasticize the inside of the planter so then it will last much longer. Finally, it’s time to fill our planters with poting soil and some flower plants boxes, then set the hooks with some screws.
