Do you remember this sofa with a chaise long made with pallets ? We discussed it in this post almost a year ago. Following your requests today I’ve decided to post the 3D plans and instructions of how to make this furniture, and also I’ve added a video with an animation of the sofa. It cannot be easier for you!
This is the original picture of the furniture, a nice sofa perfect to spend some time relaxed in your garden.
First we’ll need 8 wooden pallets, in this case the Euro – pallets type , with the dimensions 120x80cm (47″ x 31″ ), you can try to do it with pallets of other dimensions but obviously the result will be different.
We’ll place the 3 pallets making an L.
Then we’ll put the second row of pallets in order to reach the desired height of the seat. Easy right? We can glue between them the pallets if we want, however it is not necessary.
Then we’ll take another 3 pallets and we’ll extract the bottom of them, as you can see in the picture above .
We will use these pallets disassembled to build the back of the sofa, one by one nail them on the back being sure that you fix it to the 2 pallets of the the seat, this will help to stabilize the structure.
If you want with the last pallet you can also build a table, you only have to add some wheels or supports to raise it from the ground.
Basically the sofa with the chaise -long is done, you only have to finish the final details, like sanding and paint or varnish it.
Adding a mattress would be a good idea, upholster some foam with fabric, you should make one for the seat and one more for the back being carefully to cut it with the right dimensions, to fit it well later into the structure.
