Do you have a little space in the bedroom and need a desk to place your books and the computer? Today we have a solution for the smallest rooms. This is a pallet furniture rack and a folding table made with a single pallet, the vintage design fits in any kind of style, classic or modern. This very minimal furniture can also be used for a children’s bedroom.
If you want to build it, the materials and tools that you are going to need are: a pallet, a plywood table, hooks, two cables, some hooks, a piano hinge, nails, a hammer, metal flanges, a latch, sandpaper or a sander and wooden varnish.
First, we have to take the pallet and polish its surface with the help of the sander or a sandpaper, in order to achieve a smooth surface.
Then, we will measure the length of the pallet to cut the plywood board, that we’ll place on the bottom of the pallet. This piece of wood has to fit between the two boards below the pallet.
We will use the piano hinge to attach the piece of plywood that will work as a desk. Thanks to the piano hinge the furniture will be much more solid, specially when opening and closing the table.
And also add a latch to hold the table when we close the cabinet.
Once we have finished building the cabinet, we can apply the mahogany varnish layers to it. Wait for it to dry before hanging the desktop on the wall.
Then, place the hooks into the spikes and with the help of the metal flanges fix the cable as we show you in the photograph. We have to adjust the cables with the right length, when you open the table it has to remain subject and perpendicular to the shelf.
Set 2 hooks at the end of the table and the other 2 at the middle of the pallet.
In our case, we used two small wooden blocks fixed to the pallet to attach the other 2 hooks.
With the table already built, you can hang now the rack and decorate it with your personal belongings, books etc.
Now you can enjoy your table made with a single pallet, perfect for small and narrow spaces.
