Would you like to build a bedside table with pallet planks? A cabinet where you can place your books, an alarm clock, a picture etc. We teach you how to build a bedside table made from pallets fully adaptable to your space requirements. Furthermore, this dresser can be customized with your favorite color, or keep the original color of the wood to give it a more rustic and homey feel.
To build it you are going to need these materials and tools: a pallet, nails, screws, a screwdriver, wooden glue, a piece of plywood of 4 or 6 mm (0.5 ”), a hammer, a lever, a circular saw, a jigsaw, a hole saw and a sander.
First, unmount the pallet with the hammer and the lever. If you need help click here for more detail of the process for extracting the pallet planks.
Once we have obtained the pallet planks, we are going to cut 10 with a length of 52 cm (20 ”), using the circular saw, which later we are join to join with the help of a frame to hold the structure.
Now that we have the planks, 6 are going to be used to make the sides (3 and 3) and 4 to make the back of the table. So to be sure that they have the same dimensions, first align them next to each other. the length of these planks together is the same that we are going to give to the frames, take a look to the diagram.
Once we have cut the pallet planks, build the two frames to make the body of the table. This structure will be occulted inside the furniture once finished.
finished the structure, we will cut the boards that go on the top of the cabinet with the help of a saw, being sure that they have the correct longitudinal dimension.
Now it’s time to sand all the planks with the help of a sander to achieve a smoother surface without roughness.
Once we have all the planks cut and sanded, we are going to proceed assembling the nightstand. First build the 2 frames using 4 pallet planks. With the handsaw cut the ones that are too large.
Second, we are going to fix the 3 planks of the two sides and the 4 planks on the back, Post the using nails to the frame.
To build the drawer of the bedside table, add two plywood boards, with them it can be opened more easily as we show you in the picture.
For the construction of the box we have to measure the width and the depth of the space inside the nightstand. Remember that you need five planks to build it. In our case we used plywood to make the base of the drawer and a plank that we extracted from the pallet. To cut the pieces we used a circular saw.
Using glue and nails you can assemble the pieces of wood as we show you in the picture.
Finished the drawer, you can add a shelf attaching two strips as we show you in the picture. Fix them with small nails.
We have finally added a small detail in the front of the drawer, a figure with a heart shape. Then with a jig saw and a hole saw we cut the silhouette for design, this figure is going to work also as a drawer knob.
We have set this board with wooden glue and some nails.
