We love This idea from Riccardo Tamiazzo, we’re big fans of all about modifying IKEA furniture to improve it. Not everyone starts with a cabinet from 0, and this can help us to create new things recycling in a somewhat different way, thanks to IKEA hacking 🙂
This is the unit with which Riccardo began working, the typical expedit shelf from IKEA, and giving it a 90 degree turn he has created a cabinet for the TV. Basically he has placed it over its side as if it were a table, and he has covered it with wooden planks from a pallet, he has even added a glass top and 2 little doors.
The coating work involves cleaning and sanding the wooden planks, cuting them with the appropriate measures, glue them to the surface of the cabinet, and finally varnish the surface generously. As you can see the result is quite good. The added glass the furniture more clean, and the small doors are more laborious but embellish the whole piece.
Also Riccardo has added a fluorescent behind the TV, in order to give indirect lighting to the living room, something completely optional.
